Near-Surface Geophysical Survey at Leetown Hamlet, Arkansas, USA

My master’s thesis. I used multiple geophysical techniques with historic aerial photos and recent satellite images to reconstruct the layout of Leetown, a hamlet that played a part in the American Civil War Battle of Pea Ridge.

Following my thesis work, I mapped Leetown with a Trimble 5600 robotic total station to create a microtopographic map of the area. Minute changes in the relief of the site reveals almost as much about the history of the site as the near-surface geophysical methods! You can read more about the microtopographic survey at Leetown on the website of the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies.
